F. Kirk Bowles, MD
A graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Dr. Bowles completed his residency at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr Bowles joined The Eye Center in 1997. He serves the communities of Lebanon, Gallatin, Lafayette, and Murfreesboro. Board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Bowles routinely handles all patient care needs, specializing in the following:

Dr. Bowles has joined surgical missions to remote areas of third world countries where he provides greatly needed ophthalmic surgery. He and his wife Catherine have two daughters, Ellie and Betsy.

Randolph R. Evans, MD, FACS
Dr. Evans has devoted a large and ever increasing portion of his practice to surgical correction of vision with refractive procedures designed to reduce or eliminate dependence on spectacles and contact lenses. He continues to be on the leading edge of technology…
Inserted the first FDA-approved bifocal intraocular lens (the “Array”) in Tennessee in 1998.
Inserted the first acrylic, foldable intraocular lens (Acrysof) in Tennessee in the mid 1990s.
Part of the first group of ophthalmologists to offer Excimer laser treatment with PRK and LASIK in 1996.
Began and continues to utilize a tiny, revolutionary endoscopic procedure, Endocyclophotocoagulation (ECP), to control high intraocular pressures in glaucoma. One of only a scant few ophthalmology groups to use the technology.
One of the first ophthalmologists to begin using the radiofrequency-based procedure, Conductive Keratoplasty (CK), to allow those in their 40s to 70s to be able to read without glasses.
Inserted the first Verisyse iris-fixated intraocular lens, designed to correct high myopia, in 2004 (first in Tennessee).
Recently certified for implantation of the revolutionary bifocal Intraocular Lens (the “ReSTOR”).
After graduating from The Pennsylvania State University in 1979, Dr. Evans received his medical degree from The Ohio State University, College of Medicine. He served a medical-surgical internship at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and then completed a prestigious ophthalmology residency at The Ohio State University Hospitals. Subsequently, he spent a year in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as an instructor at The University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine while in private practice of ophthalmology.
Dr. Evans has practiced in Tennessee with offices in both Lebanon and Smithville continuously since 1988.
He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) and has been elected as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ASC). He is a past Chairman of the Department of Surgery at McFarland Hospital in Lebanon. He is the current Vice President of the Nashville Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Evans’ special interests in refractive surgery including Excimer laser technology, new intraocular lens technology, and radiofrequency techniques (Conductive Keratoplasty).

Thomas A. Roberson, OD
Dr. Roberson is a graduate of Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. Upon graduation, he established his private practice in Lebanon where he maintained a strong business focused on the eye care of his patients. In 1998, he merged his business with Lebanon Eye Associates to form The Eye Center to better serve his long-time patients. He believed having all eye care services at one site was the best for those for whom he cared. Dr. Roberson strives to not only create a friendly environment for his patients, but also the most up-to-date care by maintaining his skills and knowledge through continued education programs.
He offers full eye health care and vision examinations, which include:

William Schenk, MD
A graduate of the Medical School at the University of Nebraska, Dr. Schenk founded Lebanon Eye Associates in 1985 now dba The Eye Center. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at West Virginia University and is Board Certified. He provides complete eye care for the entire family and has a special interest in Cataract and Glaucoma. Dr. Schenk has practices in Lebanon and Carthage.
Dr. Schenk has completed over 15,000 anterior segment surgical procedures and currently performing:
Small incision cataract surgery with foldable intraocular implant including correction of pre-existing astigmatism with Limbal Relaxing incisions via 10 minute painless outpatient procedure using topical anesthesia without sutures, injections or IV in adjacent Wilson County Eye Surgery Center
Clear Lens extraction using the ReSTOR bifocal intraocular lens implant
Glaucoma procedures to lower intraocular pressure including SLT in-office laser, intraoperative ECP in conjunction with cataract surgery and trabeculectomy
Dr. Schenk is the Managing Partner of The Eye Center and serves as President of the Wilson County Eye Surgery Center. He served a 2 Year post as past Chairman of the Department of Surgery at UMC Hospital, 2 years past service as member of UMC Hospital Board of Directors, and is an Alumnus of Leadership Wilson County. He holds privileges at UMC, Smith County and Sumner Regional Hospitals.

A resident of Lebanon for 21 years, his wife Linda and their 3 children attend the First United Methodist Church of Lebanon. Dr. Schenk’s special interests include Racquetball and Weightlifting, Guitar, Windsurfing, Wakeboarding, Scubadiving, Kayaking, Biking and past family travels throughout Central and South America. He is also the Curator of The Eye Center aquarium. |
