LASIK (Laser in-Situ Keratomileusis)
Standard LASIK and CustomVue LASIK are performed at The Eye Center.
Standard LASIK is laser vision correction performed using the Excimer
Laser. During this procedure the cornea is reshaped to conform to your
glasses or contact lenses prescription. Patients for over a decade have
enjoyed the results of Standard LASIK.
CustomVue LASIK is individualized laser vision correction performed by
using the Excimer Laser. Prior to the procedure, WaveScan technology
captures the unique imperfections in your vision that could not have
been measured and corrected before. It produces a detailed map of your
eye—much like a fingerprint, no two are alike. During the procedure the
cornea is reshaped to conform to your individualized prescription. All
the subtle imperfections in your vision are corrected, providing you
with your personal best vision.
Goal:
Decrease your dependence on glasses and/or contact lenses (sunglasses
and protective eyewear still needed, reading glasses eventually). Does
not prevent or increase your chances of developing cataracts or other
eye changes.
Ideal Candidates:
Standard LASIK: Over 18 years of age
CustomVue LASIK: Over 21 years of age
Healthy Corneas
Vision has not changed significantly in the last 12 months
FDA Approved
(People with certain medical conditions or women who are pregnant may not be good candidates for LASIK.)
